Outstanding GCSE success

Poole Grammar School students achieved some stunning GCSE results this summer with a near 100% pass rate comprising approximately 61% A*/A grades, with approximately 20% pupils achieving 10+ A*/ A grades. A large number of pupils additionally gained A grades in AS ICT and the Free Standing Maths Qualification. Four pupils were in the top ten nationally for physics and one for biology which is testament to the strength of the science department where over 80% of pupils gained A/A* grades. Two pupils also gained 11A* grades along with an A in AS ICT.

Stunning A Level success

Poole Grammar School students achieved some stunning results this year with a 99% pass rate and just over 66% A/B grades, (excluding General Studies) with over 50% of pupils achieving three A/B grades or better. 25 subjects had 100% pass rates and the school’s twelve Oxbridge candidates produced some quite outstanding individual paper results. Candidates for other universities also scored some quite stunning results, for example Bristol bound aeronautical engineer David Thomason achieved 6 grade A A levels. Alex Dowding was amongst the top 10 candidates nationally for Religious studies and will be studying Theology and Philosophy at Oxford and Tom Clements was also a top 10 student in Biology and moves onto Bristol to study Medicine.

Poole Grammar School is awarded the International School Award

On Wednesday 10th October 2007 Poole Grammar School were presented with the International School Award, by BBC News reader George Alagiah at a ceremony in London.
