A Head for Heights !11th May 2010 73 members of the Poole Grammar School community took part in a sponsored abseil from the Tower Park water tower on Sunday 25th April. The school is trying to raise money towards a new climbing facility which will be available to Poole Grammar pupils, the wider community and other schools, for example Montacute School. The money raised will be used to kick start the matched funding application to the National Lottery with the aim of the ‘mountain’ being in place for 2012.
Ian Carter, Headmaster said, “This is an exciting project promoted by pupils and taken up by the Parent Staff Association under Helen Warren’s leadership. We are very grateful to all members of the Poole Grammar School community who contributed in so many different ways to what was a very successful day. We are looking forward to seeing the vision turned into reality as climbing promotes so many of those less tangible characteristics we look for in young people of perseverance self confidence and strength.”
