Homework

Homework is a required part of each pupil’s programme and parents are issued with a book containing guidance. Pupils are issued   with a school diary, into which set tasks should be entered. Parents in the Main School are asked to check that the work is being carried out and to sign weekly. These diaries can also be used for brief communication between home and school. In the Main School (Years 7-11) the guidelines for time to be taken per subject (two or three subjects per night) are:

Year 7 & 8 30 minutes Year 9, 10 & 11 30-40 minutes

In the Sixth Form pupils are expected to devote to homework and individual study whatever time is needed to complete it satisfactorily. This will normally require at least 20 hours outside lesson time – some of which should be done in private study time in school. Sixth Formers also have diaries to help plan their work and meet deadlines.
